Even I do not support U Win Naing for his solo political activities and his ideas, I do recognize him as a man working for a good cause.
When I heard the following news, I was thinking again who gave the order to intimidate him. I consider that higher authority from Naypyidaw might give general guide line to Yangon Military Commander and he would plan the strategy and township level authority would conduct detail implementation.
The township level authorities are mostly civilian and they would be sacked if they refuse the order. The township authorities need to execute the order wisely so that there will be win win situation for them and politicians. It is the best if they repel the order. Township authority should take lesson what happened to people who used excessive power during BSPP(Ma Sa La) .

August 20, 2007 - Donation of rice to the poor in Rangoon by veteran Burmese politician, U Win Naing has been put on hold. He said he was forced to stop the distribution, which he and a few other activists began, after Sunday's harassment by alleged government-backed thugs.
U Win Naing and his group had to flee and take shelter in a colleague's home in North Okklapah Township in Rangoon on Sunday when a group of unidentified goons attacked them with catapults and followed them menacingly in vehicles, when they were returning from a rice donation trip.
