Underground Movement Handbook

It is a good articles by Moe The Zun
See detail at Fine-leaves.blogspot.com

Kyant Phut, Swan Aah Shin or “capable strong person” organisation

Those who attacked activists campaigning against the country’s soaring inflation,on the streets of Rangoon are junta-backed thugs. They are mostly unemployed underclass, I think. Unconfirmed report said that before last week’s protests, the government released hundreds of prisoners and then recruiting them to bolster gangs. It is said that the Junta recruited unemployed underclass, paying daily wages of about 2-3K Kyats.
Kyant Phunt members who are unemployed underclass need to understand that those activists are working for them. I could not understand why those Kyant Phunt used forces excessively, may be they are police or army men disguise as Kyant Phunt. Are they Buddhist or we,Burmese, lost Meta, Gruna?

Protest March in Singapore

Burmese living and working at Singapore staged a Protest March may gave moral support to activist working for democracy in Burma, even it is not a threat to military Junta. They did Protest March on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. I gave big salute to those who participated in the movements as Singapore government does not allow gathering of more than 5 people for political activity without police approval that would be granted only to registered organization. We ,Burmese, are not allowed to register a political party in Singapore. Only Singaporean are allowed to form political party. They took risk to do the activity.

Protest March

I was so delighted to hear the protest march news despite 88 generation student leaders (88GSL) had been arrested.

I am so sad to hear the following news.
The New Light of Myanmar, Junta official paper stated that the authorities arrested the student leaders under the 1996 Act 5/56 and could face up to 20 years in prison.

I can only pray for those who were arrested.

Junta arrest 88 Generation student leaders

Mizzima News (www.mizzima.com): August 22, 2007- Prominent Burmese student leaders – Min Ko Naing, Ko Ko Gyi, Ko Mya Aye, Ko Pyone Cho, Ko Jimmy, Ko Yin Htun have been arrested by police in Rangoon at 00:30 a.m Wednesday.

As expected military Junta arrested Min Ko Naing and other 88 generation student leaders(88GSL). The leaders expected that kind of response from Junta and had done what should be done for the people. It is very certain that people from all works of life may sympathize them and may want to do something for them in their mind. As junta is so dreadful, so cruel and worst than fascist, it is not easy for ordinary people to continue 88GSL recent movements (Walking campaign against fuel price rise).
It is time now to follow 88GSL foot step. We need to be free from fear. Let do “ Ta Bo Kya Ta Bo Tat”

Junta accused 88GSL as destructive elements who do not wish to see the endeavours of the government are plotting to oust the government by resorting to three strategies : to disrupt the National Convention, to cause civil unrest similar to the 88' disturbances and to commit various acts within the framework of law. Taking advantage of the increase in fuel prices, internal and external destructive elements have provoked the people since 15 August to ensure their three strategies meet with success” (it is a same old label for opposition , but luckily missing communist label)

The accusation :
1. To disrupt the National Convention(NC).
88GSL did not do anything last week to disrupt the NC. Did not say anything regarding on NC at radio RFA, BBC, VOA .
2. To cause civil unrest similar to the 88' disturbances
88GSL had repeatedly said the they want to avoid civil unrest like 1988.
3. To commit various acts within the framework of law
Acting something within the frame work of law is also a crime? Oh what an incredible accusations.

There was no arrest warrant, no search warrant when police arrested 88GSL.

Thugs attack to AmyoThaYe U Win Naing

Even I do not support U Win Naing for his solo political activities and his ideas, I do recognize him as a man working for a good cause.
When I heard the following news, I was thinking again who gave the order to intimidate him. I consider that higher authority from Naypyidaw might give general guide line to Yangon Military Commander and he would plan the strategy and township level authority would conduct detail implementation.
The township level authorities are mostly civilian and they would be sacked if they refuse the order. The township authorities need to execute the order wisely so that there will be win win situation for them and politicians. It is the best if they repel the order. Township authority should take lesson what happened to people who used excessive power during BSPP(Ma Sa La) .
Mizzima News (www.mizzima.com)
August 20, 2007 - Donation of rice to the poor in Rangoon by veteran Burmese politician, U Win Naing has been put on hold. He said he was forced to stop the distribution, which he and a few other activists began, after Sunday's harassment by alleged government-backed thugs.
U Win Naing and his group had to flee and take shelter in a colleague's home in North Okklapah Township in Rangoon on Sunday when a group of unidentified goons attacked them with catapults and followed them menacingly in vehicles, when they were returning from a rice donation trip.

Comparison

The Prime Minister said on Sunday(19 August, 2007) that “. One or more new institutions may be set up, Students get a good education and valuable skills ,government will pay attention to the quality of education.”

Can you imagine who is that prime minister? Soe Win or Thein Sein? On what occasion he said?

If you consider that our military prime minister has that kind of thinking, you will be a laughing stock.

The above statement was mentioned by the Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsein Loong in his national day rally speech. He gave speeches in three languages, Malay, Chinese and English.

I would be so happy if our military leader had the same talent as Singapore Prime Minister. I will be happily served under him. Look at the current University education system in Burma. SPDC opened more than 100 universities in 19 years, five universities opened in a year. Singapore, developed country, is considering to set up 4th University in 3-4 years time. There is no wonder that quality of University education in Burma is under per international standard. As military officer have not in touch with English for a long time( mostly of them spent their younger time in remote areas and out of reach for book to study) they probably misspell quality as quantity.

Singapore PM may require to learn from our leader how to open new University in short time, but he may need to brain wash before he see our military leader otherwise he could not learn.

Salute to 88 generation student leader

I put my hat off to the 88 generation student leaders after i got the following mail.

Peaceful protest over the sudden unannounced hike of fuel prices by the military regime took place in Burma this morning on August 19 (Sunday). The 8888 Generation Students Group made a peaceful march in Rangoon this morning, started about 10 am and ended around 12:45 pm. About 500 people joined them. (See photos attached.) The march began from Koke-kaing and successfully ended when they reached Kyauk-myong market in Rangoon. Passerby people showed their support as they clapped and waved hands at the demonstrators and a few police and USDA members showed up when nearly ended.Yesterday, the 8888 Generation Student Group issued a statement regarding the situation of fuel prices. In this statement, the 8888 Group demands that the military regime tackle the problem of skyrocketing commodity prices and inflation rate as a consequence of this sudden unannounced hike of fuel prices and solve the economic and social hardships of the people. They also pointed out that increasing in particular the price of natural gas, which is abundant in the country, is not rational. Htay Kywe, one of the 8888 student leaders, said that this morning march was also to symbolize and symbolizes the current dreadful situation of ordinary people in Burma because whole majority people have to take “walk” as their best affordable means of transportation for daily survival at this hike of fuel prices while the military elites and their acquaintances possess automobiles which prices range between 75,000 – 250,000 US Dollar. These prices are quick shocking while we all are well aware of the dire situation of the people of Burma as refugees, IDPs, migrant laborers, etc.
There was also another demonstration reported to have taken place about the same time in North Okkapala Township, an outskirt of Rangoon. And it will not be surprising if more and more people take actions in coming days or weeks if the regime does not or cannot resolve this appalling situation.

No Law at all

Henzada Township, Irrawaddy Division. Two Humanright activist was attacked by a group of thugs backed by township authorities . They were hospitalized for a week. Local authorites accused the two human right activists for instigating public disorder and now the two human right acticist are in jail.

Madaya Township, Mandalay Division Elected Member of Parliament U Than Lwin was attacked by a man backed by township authorities. He sought for police to take action. Till to day no action has been taken yet.

I am so angry when i read the above news. What can we do for Injustice by the authorites concerned? Who give this order? From top of the power achelon or divisional commander? I think that township level authorites could not give that kind of order.

I am also wondering what kind of people implemented the order? Are they not intelligent enough that action they taken was wrong?

Do we have a lot of people like those thugs?

Blitzkrieg Petrol price operation

Petrol and Diesel price have gone up 2-3 fold in Burma. As a Burmese it is not suprising as Burma is now facing with hyper-inflation. What frustated to me ( Probably, Non Burmese will be amazed) is that the price increases was made by military regime done in military style. The instruction to raise up the petrol and diesel price came to the petrol station manager at about midnite all in sudden. Rumours mostly come out before the regime issue actual order, but this time there was no rumours. It was a success in military point of view, but in modern and democratic society it is an absurd to people. Most of the commuters especially low income workers in Yangon face difficulties to pay bus fares on that day because commuter bring only few money in their pocket but bus fares gone up 2-3 fold also. Only few buses operated on that day as operating with current bus fare does not cover the operation cost.

What is the reason behind the blitzkreig price increase? Is it necessary to act like this? Are they worry for consumer price increase if announce in advance? Can they maintain consumer price for long time if they implement that way? The answer is absolutely no. So why they act this way? I think of all optismitic way for the regime, but no possible answer come out.
